Mike Allen Trio

In 1993, Canada's national newspaper, The Globe and Mail listed Mike as one of a half-dozen "Interesting Canadians To Watch". Since then, he has been performing primarily on the West Coast, with several Canada-wide tours and regular features on nationally aired CBC radio broadcasts. Mike's playing has been heard on KPLU (National Public Radio) with the Jim Ferguson Quintet recorded live at the Seattle Art Museum in 2000, while his debut album "Quintet/Quartet" has been featured on Oscar Treadwell's well-known Cincinnati jazz radio program. Allen has performed in New York City (Visiones), San Francisco (Brian Melvin Quartet at Rose Pistola) and in Seattle (Chuck Israels Quintet at Seattle's Jazz Alley, John Fetchok's all-star Big Band at Tula's). Mike has been awarded prestigious Arts Council grants over the years to study with tenor giants Joe Henderson, Joe Lovano and David Liebman, and with pianist Jim McNeely.

On his new CD "Fearless" renowned jazz saxophonist Mike Allen teams his award winning trio (Outstanding Jazz Recording 2003, Western Canadian Music Awards) with the unique harmonic approach of pianist George McFetridge to produce a beautifully lush recording of swinging Original music. With a Western Canadian tour in place for fall 2004 and plans for dates in Europe and the United States, the trio will hit the road with a furor that is "Fearless".
