Gwa'wina Singers - Rising From The Ashes

In the early morning of August 29th, 1997 Alert Bay awoke to the news that the Big House (Gukwdzi) was on fire. Many people came from their homes to observe the devastating scene taking place. This CD was concieved out of the need to raise funds for the continued operating costs and maintenance fo the Alert Bay Gukwdzi.

Art Napoleon - Miyoskamin

Art Napoleon "Miyoskamin" has been nominated for Best Aboriginal Recording (Western Canadian Music Awards). Napoloen was also nominated for Best Songwriter and  Best Folk Album at the first annual Aboriginal People's Choice Awards.

Napoleon's red roots music takes listeners on a wonderful journey.a soundscape of Indigenous heartbeats and rhythms blended with acoustic Americana. It is cross-cultural jamming that bridges musical worlds.

Sandy Scofield - Ketwam

Sandy Scofield is a Metis (of Saulteaux and Cree descent) artist/composer based in Vancouver. Her most recent release, Ketwam won the 2003 Western Canadian Music Award in Aboriginal music, and Best Folk Album and Best Production in the 2003 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards.

Chief Frank Nelson - In The Spirit of Our Ancestors

Yekawid is a Kwakwaka'wakw artist born on Gilford Island, BC. He is a member of the Musgamagw Tribe of Kingcome Inlet, and has become a dancer, accomplished craftsman, inspired composer, and a lead singer of his tribe's potlaches. He is on a mission to restore culture, honor, integrity, and respect in the spirit of his ancestors, and ensure that his people will once again become the proprietors of their own songs, dances and art.

Gilhast Singers - Legends

Since time immemorial the people of The Sky Clan have lived on the banks of  the Skeena River. Songs, dances, totem poles, crest, and stories support the foundation of respect in which their culture is based. The songs on this recording belong to The House of Haxbegwootxw of the Fire Weed Clan, and are dedicated to the memory of their ancestors who through their wisdom, time, and patience have held on to and passed these songs down through the generations by oral traditions (adawak) so that next generation could use them wisely and share them.

Luella - Reunited The Journey Home

Thirteen years ago, the cry of the native Cedar Flute penetrated Luella's heart to it's inner depths. She picked up a flute, and invited life to play through her as a healing and meditation tool. Reunited is a weaving of Mother Nature's glorious sounds, chimes, vocals, crystal singing bowls, all accompanying the Native Cedar Flutes melodies. All songs sung and played are inspired in the moment and not repeated.

Daniel Crane - Spirit Dreams

Native Canadian flautist Daniel Crane's haunting and meditative style is featured on this impressive collection of compositions and arrangements based on traditional Dakota/Lakota themes. Daniel's Tsuu-Tína name is Bearcoat, which symbolizes strength and warmth. Guided by his grandfathers, he carefully fashioned his own wooden flute. Carrying on the tradition today, Daniel performs and offers workshops to many who want learn about the songs, dances, ceremonies, art, and traditional wooden flute of the First Nations people.
